FTBL
For agents

How should an agent present a player to a club?

Present a player to a club only when he fits a position the club actually needs. Lead with the facts a sporting director checks first: position, age, passport, contract status, level and minutes. Send one link with his record and video, state his wage expectations honestly, and follow up once.

Start with the club's need

Most unanswered messages fail before they are opened: the club is not looking for that position, or the player is the wrong level or the wrong price. Find out what the club needs first, from the club, its coaches or a posted request.

What to put in the first message

  • Name, position, age, height, foot.
  • Passports, and whether he counts as foreign in that league.
  • Contract status: free agent, or under contract until when.
  • Current league and minutes over the last two seasons.
  • Wage expectations, net or gross.
  • One link to his profile and highlights video.

What to leave out

  • Long attachments a club cannot open on a phone.
  • Claims a club can check and find wrong.
  • Five players at once for one position.
  • Repeated chasing. One follow up is enough.

Propose against a request

On FTBL Exchange a club's request states the position, salary, contract length and rules. Agents see whether their player fits before proposing, and the club sees the proposal against what it asked for.

Questions people also ask

Should I send a PDF CV?

A link is better. Clubs read on phones, and a link can hold the video and an up to date record.

How soon should I follow up?

Once, after about a week. If the position is filled or the player does not fit, a quick answer helps both sides.
